Ruining perfectly good names? I personally happen to like this spelling--it's different, and interesting, (how often do you see a "y" in the middle of a name?) not that there was anything wrong with the original "i" spelling. But you should know, if you look at the "Popularity" section for this spelling--it was most popular during the early 1900s, so this isn't something "stupid" recent people are doing.
